To clear up the goal of STEPPS, we are not "SMOC bashing." We realize that SMOC and other non-profit agencies support very worthwhile programs. What we are trying to do is make people aware of what is going on. When our town leaders don't know what is coming into the community, it is a real problem.
Our tax dollars are being spent to support these properties that are being bought by SMOC and other agencies. These properties are housing people from all over the state and Framingham is burdened with the financial responsibility.
SMOC takes no responsibility to the town to keep them informed of their plans and goals. In regards to 715 Winter St., this is an enormous project in a residential area which will have a large impact on our property values and the eventual sale of properties.
We have concerns for the neighbors' safety, staffing and future goals for that property. Yes, SMOC has said they will meet with us but have yet to agree to meet in front of our public officials.
The town needs to know the goals of SMOC and other agencies and where they are taking the town of Framingham. SMOC and other non-profit agencies' goals should concern all neighborhoods of the town.
BETTY SULLIVAN,
Framingham
